Applications of Trauma-Informed Care from Recent Research

Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is an approach to treatment that may be readily integrated into ABA applications. The approach prioritizes client safety, long-term outcomes, and relationships. Following a brief description of TIC, the course takes a careful look at Rajaraman et al. (2022), the first TIC article published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. Rajaraman et al. (2022) provides four commitments of a trauma-informed ABA practice. These commitments are explored further in the course with practical applications and research citations so that clinicians may readily integrate the commitments into practice. Demonstration vidoes and downloadable references and resources are also provided.

Course Pacing: This course is 3 Ethics-type CEUs and should take 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete (50 minutes/CEU, per the BACB). A course timer is provided at the end of the course. The timer is an imperfect guide and it is recommended that users informally log their time. User verification of time spent, and additional reading, are provided in the course survey presented prior to the final quiz.

Target Audience: BCBA/BCaBAs
