How does this behavior relate to client safety? What might be an effective approach to intervention? What might be an effective approach to intervention?

The client checks one's own health status more independently.

Pre assessment and planning behavioral tasks

Asking help depending on the result of his blood sugar level

It impacts John's health and safety while alone in the apartment.

Creating a scale related to symptoms of blood sugar
Creating alarms on a device to indicate checking blood sugar
Creating/teaching a task analysis of checking blood sugar and related steps based on read.

Teaching diet choices

Blood sugar is essential to health (could pass out, etc)

Assess what tools he can identify, create video model, etc.

Seeking help if he doesn't feel well and can't perform test on his own

By ensuring blood sugar is at a safe level.

Video modeling and then practice using either total task or forward chaining.

Checking packages of food for grams of sugar. What to do if blood sugar is too high. How to call for help in case of an emergency.

Diabetes is a life-long condition that requires daily attention

forward chain procedure for checking blood sugar levels

Diet

Maintaining healthy with the diagnosis of diabetes.

Task analysis whole chaining.

Disposal of syringes and monitoring blood sugar.

Checking blood sugar levels is critical for individuals with diabetes

individualized teaching
video modeling

how to monitor his sugar intake through food

Self care eliminates need for others and prevents larger issues

Task analysis

Recognizing signs in body when needs help

Knowing how to deal with his blood sugar could potentially be something that could save his life one day.

start with visuals or video modeling. teach a task analysis. ie, if you numbers are between this and this do nothing, if they are above/below do this...

reading numbers. administering medication. typing numbers into an app.

It would allow him to control his health.

teach chaining

The tests must be repeated until obtaining 100%

Self-care

Individualized teaching technique

Medication

becuase he has diabetes that needs to be treated

Pre-assessment to determine what type of chaining procedure

Consitency of practice

It relates to health and wellbeing

Visual schedule to follow to remind about glucose tests.

counting sugars in foods that he eats, reinforcing exercise as a way to control weight.

John needs to be able to check his own blood sugar, as inadequate levels can lead to serious health complications and death. He may have a caretaker to help him, but what if they are unavailable in an emergency?

I would do a preassessment to see how many skills John can do from a TA that I complete. I would then consider TTC vs. FC as my intevention.

I would also consider looking into procedures for John to respond to emergencies if his blood sugar is off and teaching him to identify signs that he might need to check his blood sugar.

teaches him to independently manage his blood sugar and assume that this will include how to respond when blood sugar is too low or too high. Teach them how to respond in this event to reduce medical emergencies.

Task analysis

What to do in response to too high/low blood sugars, when/how to get help, healthy snacks for increasing blood sugar

Medical self-care

Leveraging John’s interest in his care, a total-task treatment would probably be best.

Teaching John how to record his blood sugar levels over time and maybe to notice trends.

keeping track of his own health condition

BST

reading the blood sugar correctly, correctly using the needle

John should understand his blood sugar and when it is low, he should know how to be more independent.

Showing him a video of proper diabetic monitoring.

Tas analyses of steps to check and maintain blood sugar levels.

Managing health

Teaching about diabetes numbers

tech optionis

John will be able to care for his condition and check sugar levels without waiting for a caretaker to intervene

Video modeling, chaining technique

Arrange for all medical supplies to be available in Joh's home.

To prevent John from being unwell by his diabetes.

Video modeling

To monitor and manager what he is eating.

If the client can manage their own blood sugar they can have more independence and have fewer opportunities for carer error.

TA with whole task chaining

The ability to self identify precursors to high and low blood sugar.

personal health care

video modeling and task analysis

need to monitor blood glucose levels to maintain optimal health

whole task chaining

knowing what to do if levels are high/low (i.e. modifications to diet, tracking on a sheet to bring to GP, etc.)

It requires checking blood sugae

Video modeling
