To address Amelia's need for increased social integration, there will be a focus on three areas. First, a targeted peer-mediated social interaction program should be implemented. This involves providing training to selected typically developing peers, and Amelia's paraprofessional, using the principles of PRT-based social facilitation. The training will emphasize strategies for peers to initiate and sustain interactions with Amelia, focusing on her interests, providing clear instructions, and delivering natural reinforcement for her responses.

Second, social goals and supports should be integrated within the curriculum. This entails modifying tasks to promote peer collaboration. Examples include providing opportunities for students to share information or to create group projects. Instruction and modeling of social skills, along with the use of visual supports, will support Amelia.

Finally, a collaborative team approach is essential, with a strong focus on teacher and parent involvement. This involves establishing regular collaboration time between the general education teacher, behavior analyst, and Amelia's parents to develop and monitor social integration goals and strategies. The general education teacher will receive training about inclusive strategies that promote social development and the parents' priorities regarding Amelia's social development will be integrated into the plan.
