Is escape extinction necessary? Are there hands-off approaches that might work just as well, or better, than extinction?
Recent research has demonstrated effective interventions for escape-motivated behavior that do not use escape extinction. Relevant ethical codes are considered and alternatives from recent research are reviewed. Participants can expect to become more familiar with ethical concerns regarding escape extinction, review a variety of alternatives to escape extinction demonstrated in recent research, and consider options from recent research for making escape extinction safer.
Course resources include over 20 recent JABA articles and a summary table of new procedural considerations.
